Meet Mr. Cheng Woon Chun a true master of chicken hor fun. His culinary journey began at just 10 years old, working at a famous noodle stall along Ipoh’s iconic Jalan Theatre. With decades of dedication and hands-on experience across Ipoh, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur, he’s honed the art of poached chicken, pan-seared cuts, sauce crafting, and even Western cuisine.

In 1998, he joined the Western kitchen at Ipoh’s prestigious Casuarina Hotel, where he trained in a five-star environment and perfected his skills. Through the 2000s, he worked at some of Ipoh’s best-known eateries, including Lou Wong and Tianjin Dim Sum, diving deep into the science of slow-cooked broths and chicken preparation.

His motto? ‘’Great food comes from learning the best from many.’’ That’s why his soup base is slow-brewed for hours using shrimp and large chicken bones light yet flavorful, the perfect match for silky-smooth Ipoh hor fun.

Now, he’s bringing that same timeless taste to a new crowd at Kafe South Point, launching the 4th outlet in southern Ipoh!
